Swimming is a very popular sport in Tairawhiti both in the pool and the ocean.
There are two swimming pools in Gisborne, each with their own competitive swim team.
The Gisborne Olympic pools has a 50m, 7 lane pool, in addition to an outdoor recreation pool, 98m hydro slide, therapy pool and diving pool.
The Enterprise pool is 25m with multiple lanes.
Comet is Gisborne’s longest established swimming club, catering for all levels of aquatic education. Our learn to swim programme is developed to ensure that your children learn to be confident and competent in the water.
From babies to adults, Comet delivers water safety/learn to swim introduction programmes and lessons to more than 1000 students each week around our district.
