Entrants can run, jog or walk a 5.6km fun run, or 10km quarter marathon. The race starts in Marina Park, with both courses following a scenic trip around the town centre before crossing the finish line back in Marina Park.
This year’s quarter marathon in on the 18th of April 2021.
Participants of all ages and abilities compete in the event, from elite athletes and running clubs to mums pushing buggies and 80 year olds!

Group (minimum of 10 Adults) $150. Additional entries can be made to groups including secondary, primary or intermediate participants, but to receive the Group entry price the minimum of 10 adults must be met.
For every adult entry a voucher from Womens Native Tree Project Trust will be supplied to select a tree of their choice.
The Women’s Native Tree Project Trust is a local group of people who want to cloak Papatuanuku back in native trees. Their kaupapa is to grow ecosourced native trees that they gift to community spaces like marae, schools, council reserves etc. The Trust donated over 5000 trees in 2020.

For those already entered, race packs can be collected from Sport Gisborne Tairāwhiti office from Wednesday 14th April – Saturday 17th April. Our office hours are Mon-Fri 8.30am – 5.00pm and Saturday 9.00am – 12.00pm.

9.10am Race briefing at Old Army Hall car park, across from Council offices
9.20am Fun warm up
9.25am Move to start line on Stout Street

Prizegiving will commence as soon as last participate crosses finish line at approximately 11.30am at Marina Park.
The Quarter Marathon is a partnership event run by Sport Gisborne, The Hits and the Gisborne Herald. Proceeds from the event go to a local charity.
