Bowel Cancer Fundraising

To continue the kaupapa of supporting Bowel Cancer patients in Tairāwhiti, we will be selling Titirāngi Mt Everest Challenge shirts.

We’ve produced a limited number, and they’ll go on sale at our opening event. When you reach the summit, we’ll have a stall set up to sell these shirts. They’re $15 each or get two for $20. Cash only! Or you can purchase the shirts from our Office, Level 1, 74 Grey St.

If you’re wondering how we can give away 100% of the sale of the shirts, it’s because the awesome businesses on the back of the shirt have sponsored the cost of their production. Thank you to BDO, Ovation, ECT, EIT, Emerre & Hathaway, Huringa Pai, Aon and Eastland Group for getting behind this great cause.

You can also donate to the Gisborne Cancer Society by clicking here.

We’re Nearly There!

The 2020 Titirangi Mt. Everest Challenge is nearly here!

Registrations are now open and we’re excited to get the event underway. The challenge will start Monday 28th September and finish on Sunday 15th November.

Track yours and your team’s progress on the live, online leaderboard. You can track your height, gain badges (when you reach other noteworthy peaks) and encourage your friends, whānau, and colleagues by following their progress also!

Make sure you keep checking in to see our opening celebration details.

A special thanks to Sean Shivnan Pharmacy for their support so our people can enjoy the physical benefits and social interactions of being apart of this event.

And we’re off!

What a beautiful day to kick off the Titirangi Mt Everest Challenge! The maunga has been a hive of activity all morning, and already 100 climbs have been logged on the website.

Tonight, we’re holding an opening event, where we’ll have a group climb leaving Te Poho-O-Rawiri Marae at 5:30, followed by a welcome, blessing and a chance to purchase one of the new T-shirts at the summit.

The T-shirts will be sold for $20 cash only, and 100% of the sale is donated to bowel cancer patients in Tairāwhiti

Bowel Cancer diagnosis packs purchased as a result of Titirangi Challenge fundraising

From 2018, Bowel Cancer sufferers in Tairāwhiti will each receive a kete of gas vouchers and specialist information, to provide support in their time of need. The initiative, driven by Fiona Shivnan, was made possible by the generous donations of participants in the 2017 Titirangi Mt. Everest Challenge. Whiti Ora Events Advisor Debbie Hutchings says, “we are overwhelmed by the generosity of the Titirangi Challenge community. Their donations have made a truly special initiative possible.”

Significant contributions were made by Gisborne Pak N’ Save, and Ovation, which drove the total funds raised close to $5,000.

Each kete will contain $250 in petrol vouchers, to assist in the expensive travel costs for patients travelling for treatment, as well as a range of support resources for both the patient and their whānau, created by The Cancer Society.

Help us to improve next year – and order your (free) custom certificate!

At the start of this year, we asked you how we could improve the Titirangi Mt. Everest Challenge, and you gave us a heap of great ideas, many of which led this year to being the biggest and best yet. We’d like to ask you once again how we could improve the challenge, in hope that we can improve even further for next year.

At the end of the survey, you can order your customised certificate!

Well done to you all

We made it! Congratulations to everyone who took on the challenge, pushed themselves and achieved their own goals. We have heard countless inspiring stories throughout the challenge and to say that we’re sad it’s finishing is an understatement.

We broke every record in the book over the last seven weeks. Over 1,400 of you joined 200 teams, and together climbed 1.6 million vertical metres. 191 of you have made it to Everest, double that of past years.

Thank you for making this the greatest Titirangi Mt. Everest Challenge yet. Enjoy the rest this week, and we’ll see you Sunday, at the Quarter Marathon and Fun Run.
